BIOGRAPHY
Greg Pfeifer was raised on the beaches and in the waters of Southern California. He is a lifelong surfer who has surfed all over the world. He has been a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard for over 25 years. He also lived, surfed and lifeguarded in Hawaii, on the North Shore of Oahu, for several years. Greg was an All-American swimmer in college and was a two time United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Ironman champion. Greg was introduced to Hatha Yoga by his coach, John Joseph, while swimming and playing water polo at Santa Monica College and was impressed with how quickly it helped him to recover from intense training.
While completing his undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology at U.C. Santa Barbara he was introduced to Kundalini Yoga. He was amazed by the power of Kundalini Yoga and went on to become the president of the U.C.S.B. Kundalini Yoga Club. Greg went on to complete a Master's degree in physical education and coached swimming and water polo at East Los Angeles College for several years while working the summers as an instructor in the L.A. County Junior Lifeguard program. When working as a coach and instructor he always taught his athletes and students the basics of yoga.
Greg participated in the Kundalini Yoga Instructor training course at Yoga West in Los Angeles in 2003 and completed his training in 2005 at a three week intensive instructor training in Anandpur Sahib, India. Greg had dreamed of studying in India and this course was an amazing experience. Greg is now thoroughly prepared and excited to share the gift of kundalini yoga.
Kundalini Yoga is called the "Yoga of Awareness." It is the most powerful form of yoga. It allows you to expand your awareness and elevate your consciousness more quickly than any other form of yoga. Kundalini Yoga is much more than just stretching. Physically it can definitely help to improve your health by increasing your flexibility, core strength and lung capacity, but it also strengthens the nervous system and balances the glandular system. It balances the two hemispheres of the brain and the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems so you can experience a balanced state of energized relaxation. A regular practice of kundalini yoga clears the energy channels in the body and allows you to breath deeper--thus calming your mind so you can experience blissful meditation. In today’s stressful world Kundalini Yoga is a wonderful, ancient technology that can help everyone to achieve better health and peace of mind.
